College Fairs

Several College Fairs are held each year throughout the state of Vermont. The largest is usually held in the Fall (September) at either the University of Vermont or St. Michael's College. The remainder are held in the Spring (usually sometime in April) and are held at locations such as Mount St. Anthony HS, Rutland HS, Lynchberg State College, and Norwich University. This is a great opportunity for the VT FF to reach area students and inform them about West Point.

When staffing a College Fair some things to remember are:

Appearance - dress professionally, because you are representing West Point

Be engaging - don't sit behind the table

Use your force multipliers  - get help and assistance from members of WPSVT, WPPC, and if possible, Cadets who may be home on vacation. Cadets are a great draw, but difficult to have on hand. However, memebrs of the WPPC are invaluable in that they can talk with the student's parents about their experiences while you talk with the student.

Plan ahead for reference materials - you can order on the FF web materials for distribution to interested students such as the Path Guide, Take One Poster, a catalogue, pictures of the Academy, and a USMA banner. Some even recommend additional eye catchers such as yearbooks and other West Point items to serve as props. Feel free to use your imagination.
